If you're a doctor considering a locum job at Coffs Harbour Hospital, you'll be pleased to know that there are many benefits to working in this beautiful part of the world. Here are just a few examples of what you can enjoy:
There are many reasons why working as a locum doctor at Coffs Harbour Hospital is a great opportunity!
The hospital provides a broad range of specialist services including:
I really enjoyed my 3 week locum at Coffs. Supportive medical staffing unit who were happy to help with anything I needed including sorting a fleet car for me to drive before/after work and on the weekends! Coffs uses the NSW EMR, and has DECT phones for communication between staff. I would recommend this role for any JMO for a short or long term placement. Accomodation is shared, with some staff being put up on site however I was in a self contained 3 bedroom house about 10 minutes drive from the hospital. Had a housemate for 3 days but otherwise had the house to myself. The accomodation itself was great and located within a secure compound. Lots of nice cafes around, and beautiful headlands and beaches nearby to spend your weekends in the sun!
Department (cardiology) was great with a well-staffed medical team and supportive consultants Access to an electronic medical system (Cerner EMR) was greatly welcomed Accommodation was provided by the hospital in a new build townhouse, but the cons were that it was shared and there was no WiFi Ended up booking my own AirBnB halfway through the placement, and the hospital would only reimburse 30 dollars a night, so I ended up paying out of pocket Access to fleet cars was also nice, but I was stitched up when I was promised a fleet car on arrival but was given a few taxi vouchers instead to take me through to the first day of placement I would recommend staying in Sawtell, which is much nicer than Coffs
A really great placement, super enjoyable. Would 100% recommend and would come back. FACEMs are all very friendly, approachable and willing to teach when timing allows. The vibe of the hospital overall is really nice and friendly. Can get very busy, but wait times not too insane. Good mix of presentations and acuity! Shifts are either on the acute floor, paeds, fast track or EMU. Roster was good and seemed flexible if needed any swaps. eMR was powerchart/firstnet, so really easy to navigate. Accomodation was excellent. I was placed at Park Beach in a 3 bed 2.5 bathroom, very modern town house, sharing with one couple. I think the hospital owns two sets of townhouses on Prince Street at Park Beach so you’re living in close proximity with a lot of the other locums. There was a super nice group at the time, very sociable and welcoming. Gorgeous location too, less than 5 minute walk to the beach and only 10 minute drive to the hospital.
