Workload is very much a resident level job, suitable for someone with limited O&G experience. During my placement, I worked directly with the SMO who is effectively on call 24/7, there is no registrar. Whilst you can potentially help out with some procedures, my jobs were primarily administrative- completing forms, sending referrals, documenting etc with some opportunity to assess patients for things like decreased movements etc, which you still run by the boss. The team were absolutely lovely, very pleasant to work with! IT systems are primarily EMR, with some paper forms for pathology etc. Make sure you try and get your IT access completed early, as it can be quite delayed if you’re not on top of it! Accommodation was also really nice! Just across the road from the hospital, modern and clean.

Nice hospital, friendly staff, very light workload for ortho reg weekend on call. Consultant very responsive and supportive. Electronic records which is handy. Accommodation very convenient for on call as just across the street from the hospital. Town perhaps not the most exciting but there's a nice large park adjacent to hospital perfect for a lunch walk.

Resident level O+G job. Well supported by smo and midwives. Includes assisting in theatre for elective cases, supporting midwives in clinic with ordering investigations, and review patients who present for assessment (PPROM, PET, etc).

Workload was very manageable because of very involved and good Paeds Reg and Consultant. Plus the couple of days I covered were very quiet. Daily routine included morning handover, rounding and then ward jobs as they popped up. An outpatient clinic held on the ward essentially ran all day, as patients attended the ward for follow up. The Reg managed these patients as they were known to them and the Reg or Consultant fielded ED consults. The RMO role was to assist throughout and it was a great team to be a part of. The new hospital is lovely and has a great cafe at the entrance with outdoor tables to enjoy a break in the sunshine. People were very friendly. The hospital accommodation offered was shared, which I disagree with as a public sector professional, so I booked my own and, as such, cannot comment on the hospital accommodation.

Reasonable workload with constant patient arrival in the ED. FirstNet used throughout the department. Accommodation was close to the hospital itself and car provided. Would recommend to any ED Registrars, suitable for any level.

Worked as a paediatric RMO and it went pretty smooth. Small paediatric department and maternity ward, and only 2 beds for high acuity newborns (if baby needs SCN care for more than 4h, gets transferred to Canberra). The registrar is an AT, and the consultants are on site during the day, so very well supported. The RMO role is basically doing notes during rounds and admissions, discharge summaries and referrals. Accommodation was a shared house but otherwise pretty comfortable. Got a nice rental car as well as you have to drive from Canberra airport and accommodation is 10min away from the hospital. Would definitely recommend working at GBH.

Ortho RMO gig, super chill and well supported. iEMR for notes/orders. Quiet ward, with SRMO and Reg there for the day to day and consultants very responsive. Admin at the hospital very proactive with communication + set up. Hospital provides various sharehouses in the area, all clean and tidy!
