For locums looking for a role in Moruya, Moruya Hospital is a public hospital with a broad community connection. The service balances local access with a practical breadth of care, typically spanning emergency presentations, inpatient medicine, rehabilitation, visiting specialists and outpatient follow-up. Working within Southern NSW means joining a service that is closely connected to its community while still benefiting from established referral pathways and team support. Outside of work, Moruya offers a relaxed regional lifestyle with local cafes, scenic drives and a strong sense of community, plus easy opportunities to explore more of New South Wales.
This was a great placement in the rehab unit at Moruya. It’s just you on the ward and the consultant flies in once a week but is very easily contactable the rest of the time if you need. The nursing staff are really nice, supportive and helpful. They use an entirety electronic system (iEMR) except for scripts. I got put up in nice accommodation a few minutes away and had a hire car - just had to fly in and out of Canberra which was a 2 hour drive away!
Worked here twice as an ED CMO. First time I enjoyed, however 2nd time I felt it was a very unsafe place to work as the doctor in charge, there were floods so couldn't get sick patients transferred out, plus several Cat 2s presenting at same time, felt out of my depth. Wouldn't return at present.
This was a very relaxed place to work. Lovely spot and nice hospital. You are the only one on the rehab ward and the consultant flies in once a week (on Thursdays from Sydney) I had the weekend off too. There is mini HDU that always has doctors so if any patient has a code they will attend and there is an emergency department staffed 24/7. The accomodation was a new build house, walking distance to the hospital but also given a hire car which was great for exploring all the nearby towns and beaches. Would definitely go back again.
Worked ED CMO in Moruya. Covered ED overnight. GP anaesthetics on call for airway. Friendly and capable nurses who work hard and keep you right. Attend ward met calls but not non urgent work.
