With a strong local presence in Nhulunbuy 880, Gove Hospital is a public hospital. The service balances local access with a practical breadth of care, typically spanning emergency presentations, inpatient medicine, rehabilitation, visiting specialists and outpatient follow-up. Working within Top End (NT) means joining a service that is closely connected to its community while still benefiting from established referral pathways and team support. Away from work, Nhulunbuy 880 provides a comfortable base for exploring the surrounding part of the Northern Territory, from everyday local spots to easy weekend drives.
Excellent. Great, considerate rostering with minimal on call burden. Hospital has a great culture. On site accomodation was acceptable but had some downsides - kitchen not well equipped, and quite loud with poor sleep - slamming doors etc. Probably better to have on call SMOs staying somewhere a bit less busy.
Just worked ED, multiple shifts and very strong supervision available. Nights you're only doctor in the hospital, but the consultant staff are 100% available and stay all night if required. Nursing staff are epic. Works like a standard ED, only probably one of the best resourced EDs around, rapid access to Xray, CT, USS in hours, emergency if required, same with pathology. IT systems make working tough to begin with. The work culture throughout the hospital is great, a pleasure to work amongst. The administration support is as good as it gets. Interesting medicine, lovely community and patients. The Boat Club has epic sunsets with a beer. Easy Woody has good and easy fishing. Further afield there is untapped fishing and diving it would seem...!
