Across Cooloongup, Rockingham General Hospital is recognised as a 183-bed public hospital serving local patients close to home. It handles a substantial case mix across acute and inpatient care, with strong exposure to emergency presentations, general medicine, surgery and a wide range of hospital-based services. As part of South Metropolitan Health Service (WA), it offers the chance to step into a well-supported multidisciplinary team and contribute to a busy service with plenty of clinical variety. On your days off, Cooloongup offers easy access to cafes, green spaces, shopping and the wider attractions of Western Australia, making it easy to settle in between shifts.
Worked as a gen Med reg there. No subspecialty teams present so often need to transfer to Fiona Stanley. Well supported by consultants. Patient load is generally limited by distribution between teams each day. Generally teams are intern/resident/reg Can become busy if all roles aren’t filled. Usually two Med regs on at night covering ED and wards. Accomodation is via a local agency but had a waterfront apartment. Admin are lovely to deal with.
