Description
Goulburn Hospital is a 120-bed facility serving the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. It provides emergency care, general surgery, and mental health services. Located in the historic town of Goulburn, the town offers a mix of heritage and culture, with nearby national parks for bushwalking and cycling. If you fancy some authentic Thai food head to Ban Thai Restaurant that has a small and homely vibe with some delicious curry's.

2025
Workload is very much a resident level job, suitable for someone with limited O&G experience. During my placement, I worked directly with the SMO who is effectively on call 24/7, there is no registrar. Whilst you can potentially help out with some procedures, my jobs were primarily administrative- completing forms, sending referrals, documenting etc with some opportunity to assess patients for things like decreased movements etc, which you still run by the boss. The team were absolutely lovely, very pleasant to work with! IT systems are primarily EMR, with some paper forms for pathology etc. Make sure you try and get your IT access completed early, as it can be quite delayed if you’re not on top of it! Accommodation was also really nice! Just across the road from the hospital, modern and clean.
2025
Nice hospital, friendly staff, very light workload for ortho reg weekend on call. Consultant very responsive and supportive. Electronic records which is handy. Accommodation very convenient for on call as just across the street from the hospital. Town perhaps not the most exciting but there's a nice large park adjacent to hospital perfect for a lunch walk.
2024
Resident level O+G job. Well supported by smo and midwives. Includes assisting in theatre for elective cases, supporting midwives in clinic with ordering investigations, and review patients who present for assessment (PPROM, PET, etc).
2026
Reasonable workload with constant patient arrival in the ED. FirstNet used throughout the department. Accommodation was close to the hospital itself and car provided. Would recommend to any ED Registrars, suitable for any level.
